I saw reference to these by chance on ParalyticSkiCrazie's thread on St Martin De Bellville and they sound like a godsend for my OH as they are in-part designed for the larger footed and calved among us (OH is ex-rugby player and spends every evening on his Concept 2 rower)
Last time we went skiing in January it was almost mission impossible to get his ski boots on (they are his own and fitted the season before but he's obviously put on more muscle since then) so these sound ideal and neither of us knew such a thing existed. PSK said it was the comfiest boot ever and I can see no reason to buy another sort ever again!
Just thought I'd post a separate thread in case there is anyone else out there unaware of this fab innovation and could benefit from a pair.

I have to admit I'd only looked briefly on t'internet but I thought there seemd to be some sites selling new ones, why on earth would they stop making them? Is there some sort of safety issue with them?

I am not aware of any companies still making them. Any 'new' ones for sale will be very old stock.

I'm no expert but I just think things have moved on and they just aren't made like that anymore.
I'm sure there's no safety issue or anything.
Found this on the web...
Rear-Entry Boots
Rear Entry ski boots became popular during the mid 1990's due to the fact that they were so easy to put on. As they aren't as fashionable these days, they can often be found at discount prices selling at even garage sales, so it is best to keep a look out in your local area.
However, these boots are not ideal for professional and advanced skiers as they do not seem to be able to perform to high standards of skiing. They are ideal for cruising around and light skiing, but overall more modern boots are recommended for the advanced skier.
