longy133 wrote:Its a knee injury but the doctor doesnt know what is exactly wrong. So physio first, then a knee specialist. As a 17 year old unemployed student i cant really afford a sports physio when I can get it free on the NHS. I had a hamstring injury 6 months ago and the NHS are really good with physio. And yes im keeping positive. Thanks

Stop drinking for a week?

Seriously though, it might be worth your while, I have been in a similar situation (Dr.-->Consultant-->Physio).

Not sure on the specifics but I reckon having seen a Dr. with a specific knee complaint and being referred for further treatment could have an impact on your insurance companies willingness to cover you should something happen.

What happened when you hurt your knee?

I was just making a challenge. Dont know what happened. But it wasnt that painful at the time. I went for a run over christmas and had to turn back because it was too painful. So i doubt skiing will be anyless painful. Thanks

If you can afford to see a physio search online for a diagnosis, rehab exercises and a decent brace. I injured my medial ligaments about 6 weeks ago and with a bit of decent rehab i am good to go skiing now (i hope)

If you're able to get to your hospital fairly easily & at short notice, you could contact the physio department & ask for a cancellation. Lots of people are cancelling appointments at the moment because of the snow.
The plan is.... there's no plan!

can you sleep with your legs straight or do you need to angle them out to the side?
if you're comfortable with them straight then it's not ligaments.
fingers crossed for you.

Try looking at www.physioroom.com, I have used this site loads to sort myself out with injuries mainly from football.

If you managed to finish the game and even the fact that you felt ok to go for a run over Xmas would appear to me it is not ligaments as you would know that and you wouldn't even attaempted the run.

Get yourself a good quality neoprene support and wear during the day, it can become a bit iritating and hot but the heat get more blood to the area and I have found it speeds up the repair process.

The knee shouldn't be unstable, but the pain can be annoying and generally you won't do any further damage just prolong the full heeling if you ski on it, so take plenty of Ibuprofen with you. 4 weeks should get you right anyway.

Best of Luck!

Just thought I would update you on this situation. (If your interested)

Basically going skiing on Saturday, at the moment the knees are fine. I have played 3 fotball games and been on plenty of runs and managed to get an hour on the bike at the gym, should be fine now. I have booked a physio session for the monday after I get back, just incase I bugger my knees whilst skiing. Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
