LOL - Tony - you are right!

On the laundrette - going on holiday to NOT have to do housework ;-)

AND on the HERE WE GO AGAIN - HOLD ON!

@Snowb4ndit: apparently - rumour - speculation - the grapevine - you will get stopped at security - on either end - scared you might take over the plane wielding a Ski Boot! or something. ;-)

It hasn't happened yet...I always make a point of telling them at check in. If they object I'll just swap them with something in my suitcase. I will do anything to keep my boots with me, losing them would be a disaster (they've had so much work done on them to fit my dodgy shaped feet)I couldn't replace them quickly.

I always put my boots in with luggage and have never been over the weight allowance ( and I'm a girl)
I also pad out my skis to protect them with ski socks and stuff easily replaced if the bag arrives later than I do!

Because some of my flights to France have a 15kgm max, I evolved a method to achieve this.

Firstly don't use a hard case, they weigh up to 4kms. I use a rucsac, boots at the bottom. My OH uses a large holdall, boots inside.

Secondly, write a packing list, store it on your computer. When you come back, call up the list, and delete anything you didn't wear.

4 polo shirts does me for skiing, for any length of time. Wash them every 2 days, along with socks and smalls. Do the lot in 5 min.

I only take one pair of trousers, and wear them for travel.

Understand the weight of everything, and put heavy items into the hand baggage.

When I first suggested a packing list, Pablo came back at me ~ "that is wrong on sooo many levels, I am a teenager!"
