Then out comes the piste map...discussion...route planned and off we go.

Excited and slightly nervous in the gondola, can I remember how to do it?

I'm glad I am not the only one. I got called "anal" last time we went away after trying to plan a route for our group.

Last time we didn't plan a route, I went down a black (it looked easy to me)and my husband who was following me broke his collar bone. (It was in Borovets...piste markers are sh*te)

My hubby is getting good at it now, I reckon after our next holiday, we won't need to rely so much on the piste map, but I'll still want to plan my route, I like to make sure I have my hot chocolate stop offs!

For me it's get up, SHOWER, this part is key to actually waking up! Put some thermals on a sallo's and a jumper, go get some breakfast, usually of the hot variety, and fruit juice, don't like tea or coffee. Then stick all the rest of my gear, make sure my bags packed with camera, red bull/ water and choc, and head down to the hire shop, pick up my ski's, aim for around the first lift. No apprehension on the way up as i regularly ski mat's so i know i can still ski! :D

I nearly got knocked out by the smell in the ski locker room once, from a snow boarder's socks. I shouldn't think he'd washed them all holiday.

(not for me, you understand!)

Take the green vein out of the garlic and you won't smell

I'll shower in the morning and shower before I go out to eat in the evening, feet washed twice per day = No smellie socks :D

Ian,
I think you have to wash your socks as well as your feet.

And I hope Caron-a is okay, seeing as I'm meant to be playing Mum, according to Nellie, and her feelings haven't been hurt too much.

I don't suppose ski-ing with a hangover is any worse than ski-ing when very tired, or with a nasty cold, which I've done several times (I wouldn't know, since as everybody probably knows by now, I'm tea-total). I just ski slower, and more carefully, and for a shorter length of time, when I'm below par. But I wouldn't stay in bed - not after paying £1100 for 7 days ski-ing!

Apres ski for me is a couple glasses of wine, my days of hangovers are long since gone.I did miss a days skiing with sun stroke once, lost my hat on the way up could not be bothered to ski back down to the apartment for a replacement, so stupidly I paid the ultimate price of missing a days skiing
