Wickers, don't get me wrong, I am totally with you on having a tarteflette over a burger any day, but all I wonder, is that if a McD arrives in the resort and starts selling 1€ burgers, then just possibly, the tarteflette may drop to a more reasonable 7€.

Mind you, I doubt it, but we can but hope.

I can't see it happening, but here's hoping :D

My initial reaction to this was absolute horror. I have never been a fan of McD or the like, and would hate to see them in resorts.

But then Trenchers comment made me think. Actually, if McD turned up in a decent resort and started selling at their usual prices, I strongly suspect I would never have to pay 21 euros for a bratwurst and rosti (or the like) ever again!

Perhaps it may not be such a bad thing after all.

For 21 euros you can get a good meal, and a couple of glasses of wine at up market Deer Valley resort. This year, I had a breakfast buffet at Park City Mountain Resort, with unlimited bacon, sausage, egg, fruit etc for the equivalent of 7 euros.
because I'm so inclined .....

Aha, but was it served by a man speaking German with a heavy French accent? We have to get value for our euros somehow

There was a McDonald's in Kitzbuhel when I was last there. Provided me with a budget dinner one night when all the reasonably priced places were packed out (only the one night, though!)

I've eaten in McD's in Zermat because we fancied at least one night where we didn't have to book an appointment with our bank manager before eating. It was still about 35 quid for two meals!

In the end we found the best place for good value was Sparky's at the Matterhorn Hostel. Nice staff too.

 Oh no. I am going to Kitzbuhel next Feb, sadly two of the guys I am going with spent 4 weeks in Tiawan, and lived off of Subway or Ice-cream for the entire time. I hate to think what may now happen when we are skiing :(

They will make a mess? McD's in Kitzbuhel has been there for a very long time. I went in there during the 80's AFAIR.
