Hi again everyone. I thought i was getting somewhere in deciding to go for Chamonix the hotel park suisse then the Hubby came home with some ski brochures and suggested Andorra as a cheap alternative. I have found a few hotels that have availibility for 4nights in feb half term in Pas de la Casa.

Which do any of you think will be better for us as beginners, have had few hours worth of lessons and am pretty confident. Budget is a big factor, but also comfort and dont really want to get homesick (would be excuberated by staying in a eastern bloc feel area).

Do you think Andorra would be a lot cheaper on the whole, i.e. equipement hire, lift pass, food and drink etc and would the terrain, runs be okay for us??

Any replys welcome, Thanks Jodie.

Andorra has the most expensive ski lift tickets in Europe. It has deliberately gone up market in the past few years. It will also fail to meet your criteria for a 1 hour transfer, since you will be travelling from either Perpignan, Toulouse or Barcelona, up to 4 hours on a bus. Pas is a party village, lots of bars and day trippers as it's duty free.

The terrain will be fine for your level.

Do FlyinScare still fly into Girona, thats a shorter transfer to Andorra.

Shorter route, yes agreed. Though in winter it's not a good road, at all. It's not got good roads in summer either come to think of it

If its you and hubby then Soldeu would be a much better better.
Nicer village and lots of choice of food.
Probably one of the best places to learn as it has a fantastic beginners area and all English ski school.

However as Bandit says in the past 7 years it has made an effort to move upmarket and is not the cheap Holiday that it was 10 years ago. Prob cheaper than a main French resort but still move expensive than Italy.

It has a very good snow record other than 88 season but the transfer can be a bind. Its also sun to sun normally.

On balance I would still highly recommend over any other resort to friends if they were begineers if you dont mind the transfer.
