A few of us fancy doing a weekday day trip to the Alps - empasis on the 'DAY' ...
We recon it's very dooable with 5/6hrs skiing in there .. leave home at about 2am, back home in the UK and in bed about midnight the same day.
So comments and feedback - who's done it... and who wants to join us in 2012 if we do !

Some Tour Ops used to offer Ski for A Day trips. Not seen it for a few years, but ISTR it was around the £120 mark.

Swiss Travel Service used to do a day trip at weekends. It went something like 0600 Swiss flight from Heathrow to Zurich (80 minutes), car to Engelberg (90 minutes), ski all day, leave about 4.30pm, 8.15pm flight back to Heathrow.
There was a feature on it the Daily Telegraph and it might be worth contacting the Swiss Travel Centre in London who used to advertise it.
PS - Always fancied doing it, so I'm in if you need an extra body to help keep down the costs! )

Blimey! A one day ski trip ? . . . . . . sounds slightly torturous and exhausting...if i got there for the day i wouldnt want to come back and would end up staying for a couple of nights at least!!!

Similar to what we've been looking at - flying LHR to Zurich on the 6am and then down to Flumserberg in hire car, back for 8.30pm flight home.
Just looking at some dates now (prob Feb/March - will let you know if we are going to do it).

Tips, that I can remember, from the Telegraph article included travelling in ski clothes and taking boots as hand luggage. I think I still have it somewhere so will try to dig it out!
