Innsbruck Pass Expands to 13 Ski Areas and 22 Non-Ski Attractions

Published : 29-Aug-2019 12:28

The Innsbruck regional ski pass is having a re-boot this winter to cover still more areas and also encompass city attractions.

Innsbruck has always had quite a strong winter offer because it gets more summer tourists so has plenty of bed space to fill in winter, driving down prices.

It has offered a regional lift pass for many years which in most cases covered skiing at 8 or 9 ski areas around the Tirolean capital and public transport between larger hotels and other key points in the city up to the slopes.

So in short skiers could fly in to Innsbruck, stay in a hotel 10-20 minutes from the airport and enjoy a 'city break' but take the bus to one of the nearby ski areas each day, all for a fairly good value price.

The new offer for 2019-20 expands the number of ski areas included to 13, including the Stubai glacier. Altogether the pass incorporates 300km of ski runs served by a total of 111 lifts.

However the pass now also coverts more than 20 non-ski attractions in the area, many of them also keen to grow their winter business, including the Swarovski Crystal World, the Bergisel Ski jump designed by Zaha Hadid, and the 16th Century Renaissance Ambras Castle.

Alternatively skiers can opt to stay in one of the 13 areas, including Igls and Kuhtai and use the pass in the other direction to visit Innsbruck.

The number of scheduled flight routes from the UK to Innsbruck has also grown in recent years with Jet2 announcing new routes there this winter from Birmingham, Stansted and Manchester.
