Well its been a while since i have posted on here, but i am truely feeling that i am missing something now that i have had my first skiing holiday! In January i went with some experienced friends and 3 of us were begginers to St Anton, and i have to admit as a first timer on the slopes it was extremely hard and pushed me to the very edge of what i thought i could do or handle! But thanks to my instructor and my "classmates" we really bonded and made progress, and by the end of the week i was taking on St Antons blues and loving it with the support of my friends!
however i now have a problem, i miss it terribly! My partner did not take to it as i did, although she is willing to try one more time! However we need a resort with easy greens to build her confidence up! (any suggestions??)
All i want to do now is ski again! I play rugby, work as a paramedic but i have to admit skiing my first run was liberating and i want more!!!! i constantly think bak to how i felt when i took on my first blue down to the KK with the group and then on the last day ski with my friends! what a ultimate rush!!

Yes Chris it does get beneath the skin, my wife was much the same didn't really take to it first of all only really went because I did, but after five or six years the penny dropped that it is was not just about the skiing but the environment which you are in.
To your point it is so important that you continue your lessons every holiday as for resorts there are so many my suggestion would be pick a country then trawl the piste maps,some suggestions would be Livigno Italy, Pas de la casa and Soldeu in Andorra there are so many the list can be endless. Happy hunting, and prepare yourself for the arrival of the "N" brigade there be along soon :D

Welcome to our world, Chris.
Skiing is hugely addictive, and it gets worse, let me tell you. You start to pine after it all year round, and when the snow comes you get all excited....by the time it comes to going on your trip, you may need oxygen or a trip to casualty!
You picked a tough resort for your first trip: St Anton is a fantastic place to ski but its not for the faint hearted. I think from memory you were there same week as me, first week in Jan?

I believe you have 3 choices with your other half;
1. Take her along and insist she enjoys herself and ensure she progresses in ski school
2. Leave her at home and go with people who will enjoy the skiing.
3. Ditch her.

As for somewhere to go, you probably need somewhere less difficult on the slopes. How did she find St Anton as a resort....too lively, about right, not lively enough? If you can answer that, I can come up with some suggestions.

"N" translates to Niederau a small Austrian resort which is popular with a lot of persons on this forum :wink:

Chris, It was my wife that got me into skiing, but it often seems that its a macho sport, men need to go steeper, faster. Try to keep your other half interested otherwise you will end up skiing on your own a lot and feeling a little bit held back every time you ski with her, which does not make for a good holiday.
Ready? I was born ready.
