My wife is due to have surgery on her foot to sort a bunion.

When sorted she is thinking of changing her boots which are getting old and getting new boots fitted to her "new" foot.

However I have heard that new boots won't be compatible with the bindings on "older" bindings. Marker bindings on K2 Superifics which are probably 7 or 8 weeks on.

Is this true? She loves the skis and doesn't want to change.

It is kind of true. I bought some Atomic ski boots this season and they came with Gripwalk soles which are compatible with Gripwalk bindings (They have Grip Walk logo on them). But you can change the soles. Some brands come with a choice of soles. But with other brands you have to buy the "old style" soles.

If your wife wants to keep her current bindings she will need to find boots that are fitted with ISO
5355 alpine soles / sole plates, ISO 5355 is the standard that covers alpine ski boots. Some all mountain / piste ski boots are currently only supplied with Grip Walk sole plates, alpine sole plates are sold separately as spare parts which will add £25 – 35 to the price. All the ski equipment manufacturers are experiencing supply chain problems at the moment, so to avoid problems I would only buy boots that are supplied with alpine sole plates.
