Hi all just a quick question. my partner and i are going skiing on 4th march. we have found several deals . the best of which is to andorra. we are restircted to this date but quite concerned to book in advance given the state of play last season and actually so far this season. ( not looking amazing so far ) thing is there currently doing deals for half price lift passes etc which brings costs down no end. my concern is if we wait and see and shed loads of snow does come will the prices go up as they seem to have done in france......

so do i just book it and trust the snow will be there. or wait and risk loosing the discouts offered...... help please if anyone has any suggestions.

I would rather pay an extra £100 or so to ski on pistes that have plenty of snow than save a few quid and worry for 2 months if there will even be enough snow!
As there is just 2 of you, i personally would wait and see where the snow is good and book a couple of weeks before, even if it will cost more money. most people only go once a year, why take the risk...nothing worse than skiing on patchy/muddy pistes!

Good luck ! not an easy choice :)

All depends on what you want from your ski holiday. If you like hills, not mountains and heavy drinking, go for Andorra. You also run, IMO, the risk of not getting as much snow as skiing in the Alps.

3rd march is a week I ALWAYS ski and we've been to Serre Chevalier, Sauze d'Oulx and Mayrhofen that week and had great skiing at all of them. I am sure someone will come along and quote you average snow depths etc etc but personally I'd either book somewhere for a bit more money, or wait for a late deal like I am for 22nd Jan.

Make sure you pick somewhere high though.

I hope its ok as we are going on the 1st march
We've been Jan & Feb the last 2 years .There always seems to a lot more snow fall mid Feb-March ,this is why we had picked begining of March

Good luck

this was kinda my thinking. looking at the previius 5 years there has been a big dump towarss the end of feb every year. fingers crossed for you. as for me reckon i am just going to wait. the money isnt as important as the snow. i am not going through what we did last year in bulgaria. bare runs . big slabs of ice and horid old snow. fingers crossed.

i think you right on the whole last season was a bit of a shocker for everyone. i was in borovets on 2nd feb and it was shocking. half the runs were shut and the rest had rocks showing for the most part. hoping this season will be much better all over but i suppose with last year ringing in peoples ears a lot of people are reluctant to book before having some idea of what the conditions are going to be. it also seems that as of yet andorra hasnt benefitted from much snow. the alps seem a good bet right now with up to 4meters in some places. un thinkable really when you think back to last season.

Last season was bad at times across Europe. Having said that I skied St Moritz mid Jan and it was as good as I can remember conditions ever being - lots of snow and very cold and sunny. Lovely. This was at the same time as people I know in Morzine were skiing grass meadows.

Andorra and Bulgaria do seem to suffer a lot more than the Alps, and for that reason alone I would not consider taking a holiday to either, and Bulgaria not at all for many reasons.

I think you really need to think about what you want from a ski holiday, and for me thats 6 days full on skiing, nothing else matters that much. Dont take the risk would be my advice, go to the Alps and ski high up.
