Thanks for the complete report and excellent pictures. Looking forward to my visit 21/02/09. Anyone else planning to be in St Anton then?

Just out of interest, without sounding rude what price did you pay for the week, just purely catered chalet!

I so want to go to St Anton!!!!

I have to confess that I got us a right deal. Catered chalet for 8 people, transfers, return flights Gatwick/Innsbruck, lift pass included, ski carriage for 7 pairs of skis (even though we took 9 pairs), £4089.
Thats just over £500 per person.

Basic holiday price with Skiworld was £479 plus room supps of £210 in total, an overall price discount of £854 from the agent (www.catered-ski-chalets.co.uk) and we got lift passes at 2 for the price of 1, which worked out to £92 per person for the lift pass, and they are currently selling for 202euros for 6 days.

I have now used Skiworld twice for chalet holidays, and have to say that if you shop around and spend time on this, you can get really good prices. Obviously a lot depends on how many in your party, where you go, when you go, etc etc, but early or late booking can get you good discounts.

I got a late deal in March 08 with them, 10 days in advance, and this time we booked early bird and got what I think was an excellent deal.

Anyway, this thread was intended to focus on the merits of St Anton as a resort, and not the deal I got on it, and it is somewhere I thoroughly suggest anyone remotely interested in good skiing visits sooner rather than later. An absolutely superb place to ski.

Was only there for a couple of days but must echo Tony's sentiments. Great resort, would be blinding after a lottery win )

Everthing you need for a good winter holiday:

Good company, was real good fun to meet Tony H, Ellistine, Skidaddle and thier associates!! Bunch of top people who made me feel very welcome!!

Expansive and varied mountains.

Plenty of great eateries and bars.

Handy to get to on the train.

Good places to sleep (Picadilly's Bar/Club, table at the rear, 3.30am)

Russian chicks requiring snowboarding lessons at 8am, Tino needing Asprin and another hours sleep.

All in all a blinder and will definately go back soon, however Zermatt is next on my list for new places! Maybe a long weekend in Feb )

Would have posted some piccies but I cant be arsed.
