What's the easiest ski route back to pas from soldeu.

That is pretty much accurate. Don't be intimidated too much by the colors, Pas de la Casa has pretty few difficult slopes. Soldeu is WAY more complicated, difficulty-wise.
Now, my recommendation as to how to get to Soldeu would be to look at the map. The shortest route if my memory serves me would be to get the Costa Rodona lift, then go through either Pastora (which is a ridiculously flat blue slope), Diagonal o Les Grandalles, all of them pretty accessible to any levels. I would go as far as to advise against Pastora since it sometimes can force you to row for a bit which is really difficult when managing large groups. Once there get the Cubil lift and go down L'Avi, Enradort lift, Cortals, Solana, Obaga and Ós (all of them blue slopes) or any variation of blue slopes so you can get to Ós and from there to Soldeu. Don't be afraid of taking any reds on the lower Soldeu area, since they are all pretty easy. I've taken people from all levels through that area and we don't even look for color codes much since it's pretty easy to navigate.
I would also like to mention Pista Llarga for the first descent since it's a pretty fun and easy slope for the most part, but you can run into some (really short) steep sections that would be a hassle to get a large group through.

From what I remember, none of the reds are very difficult. Most of them would be blues anywhere else in Europe.
