Anyone venture to the slopes for a weekend from the UK? I'm feeling the urge to have more than just one ski break this winter and am thinking about a March/April weekend break.
Any recommendations for easiest resorts to get to? (currently thinking Chamonix but will welcome any suggestions)
We live an hour or so from Heathrow/Gatwick/Southampton so airports not a problem.

Mountain Sun does seem to be the best as far as value for money goes, just having a hunt for weekend accommodation in Chamonix. May have to look up some old friends....
Yes, more often than weeks -via Geneva to Chamonix Valley, La Clusaz / Grand Bornand, Grand Massif, Portes du Soleil... and that's just France. Verbier / Four Valleys are easy too.
Zurich and Innsbruck are other obvious choices of airport with lots of resorts in easy reach (IIRC some of the Austrian ones are doing free transfers from Innsbruck this season).
Try and travel Thursday and/or Tuesday rather than Friday / Monday as there'll be more seats and cheaper flights and - depending on timing - less traffic on the roads to/from the resorts (= more ski time).
Off you go... 8)

Chamonix probably has the shortest transfer time from GVA and biggest availability of accom though :D

I did a weekend independently last season with a friend.
I used Airmiles to find an aiport I could "afford" and which had convenient flight times- it happened to be Munich. We flew out from Heathrow Thursday evening and back late Sun evening, so had three full days ski-ing.
After advice from others on the Austria forum, we actually chose Garmisch in Germany, which was great - found a good value b&b, hired skis locally and away to go.
In the past, I have driven down with friends, sharing costs and the driving, staying at Brides-les-Bain and taking the long gondola to Meribel; and have also gone there with a cheap and cheerful company called Ski Weekends which includes 2 overnights on a coach - it was fine, but I'm too old for sleeping on coaches now :(

Pick a resort you like the look of, go to the website and obtain a list of accomodation and check the hotel websites directly. Many offer great short breaks with passes included, after that it's just travel.
