We are now looking for a male room buddy for Davidsa2 to share a twin room with him in the Gran Baita hotel. We thought we'd found one but unfortunately (for him and us) he couldn't get the time off work :(

The holiday details are on page 56. The date is Sunday 2nd February to Sunday 9th February. The bottom line is that the total holiday cost works out at around £700 including flights, transfers, half-board accommodation, area lift pass, and ski hire. But the exact costs will depend on which flights you buy.
This is not a package holiday. We have a group booking for the hotel but this does not include flights and transfers. The idea is that you book these yourself with help and advice from the rest of us in the group :)

The 12 seater taxi mini-bus that Ian W booked to take people straight from Verona airport to the hotel in Folgarida is full now, although I suppose if several more people want to come with us and take up this option we could consider hiring a larger one.

There is also a public shuttle bus from Verona and Milan Bergamo airports to Folgarida. RyanAir go to Bergamo and Easyjet and BA go to Verona.

There are 20 of us now, booked into the Gran Baita hotel.

I have had a look at the price of flights today, with RyanAir between Stansted and Milan Bergamo going out on Sunday 2nd February and coming back on Sunday 9th February.

RyanAir have a sale on at the moment, and the 06-25 and 08-05 flights from Stansted are only £20, the return flight from Bergamo at 17-05 is £42, and the total with a 20 Kg suitcase each way is £111.

Total costs currently look like this:

Return flights between Stansted and Milan Bergamo = £111
Return FlySki shuttle bus between Bergamo and Folgarida (which is OK for these flights) = 35 euros
Half-board hotel = 350 euros
Area ski pass (on special offer) = 210 euros
Ski Hire (through SkiSet) top of the range skis and boots = 78 euros

Total = £111 plus 673 euros = £575 + £111 at 1.17 euros/pound = £686

I had a look at Google Maps and they now include the ski lifts on the maps :)

So it's easy to see where the Gran Baita hotel is in relation to the Folgarida gondola. On the Google Map below the hotel is marked with an 'A' and it's about 400 metres from the gondola (and ski hire shop), so it would be possible to walk there, although there's no need as the hotel runs a free shuttle bus to the gondola in the morning, and back in the afternoon.

That is really helpful AllG because trying to work out where your hotel is in relation to the lifts can be tricky. Some hotel information is not all that accurate! When they say a 5 mins walk they often mean if done by Mo Farah! :roll:

Trust me it really is not that far …… The hotel mini bus to the lifts and a locker near the lift on our return :thumbup:
