door to door skiing in early april.

i have the chance for a short skiing trip(plan to take car) with my two sons in early april before meeting my wife at basel airport and spending a couple of days with friends in stasbourg.i am not a great skier and my sons are intermediate, have never been skiing in Switzerland and am keen to find door to door skiing. any suggestions would be much appreciated

Not all door to door but many chalets can be reached from pistes round the back of town or its a short bus ride to the main lifts.
Wonderful ski area, and I went early April 2008 and got great snow conditions.

It might be pushing it a bit for door to door in April. Really depends on the weather, couple warm weeks can make lower slopes quite horrible to ski on - last year it was a mudball from mid-March. Jury is still out on what this season will be - we haven't had any serious snowfall for a month now and this past weekend it was quite slushy with this week expected to be abnormally warm for this time of the year too. I would say don't count on door to door and you will have a much more enjoyable holiday with less expectations and less dissapointment if they don't materialise.
