Hi - have snowboarded for the last 7 years. Going to try skiing for the first time this March in Soldeu, Andorra. I take a UK size 13/14. Do hire shops typically cater for these large sizes? Or should I look to getting some boots sorted before I go? I emailed some of the hire companies, but they just gave me a generic answer saying if they can't get my size they will give me a refund - i.e not exactly filling me with confidence.
huge feet is a hinderance in snowboarding, although at a good level, I think i have plateaued due to the equipment. I'm looking to try my hand at skiing.
with ski boots should I be able to feel my toe at the end of the boot or not?
thanks in advance

This might be a stupid question and not really relevant to your post, so hope you don't mind me asking. Do snowboards come in different widths according to the size of your feet. It's not something I've really given much thought, but I'm thinking with a size 13 and a regular snowboard, your toes would be on the ground. :?: This is probably another dumb blonde question, but my Mum always said if you don't ask........you don't find out :D

Hi bigfoot welcome to J2ski :D
You might need to take some rental boots with you, just to be sure. This UK company hire bigger sizes in boots.

Yes, when the liner is out of the boot, if you stand in the empty shell your toes should just brush the front. There is heaps more detail to getting a ski boot fitted and comfy, and you may find that if you like skiing, that you want your own pair.
