We're going to Ischgl on 29 Jan 2022 for a week. We're advanced-level skiers who like carving reds, steep blacks, off-piste (in the right conditions), hearty lunches, and good scenery. Should we stick to Ischgl/Samnaun for all 6 days, or do you think we'd appreciate a day's skiing in either Galtür, Kappl, or See? If so, which of the three would you recommend, given our stated preferences? Many thanks.

It's a while since I was there, but as both Galtur and Kappl are each only a 30 min free bus ride away, and the buses are regular, I would recommend visiting both. You can ski each of them in half a day as they are not large areas. However you will likely not experience long lift queues and the slopes will be quiet. On the downside, you won't find really challenging skiing and the bars can be quiet, but then again, they are anywhere in the current covid climate.
I found it a pleasure to get away from the queues at Ishgl for a short while.

Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

Thanks DougR. We're flying tomorrow and I think we'll go to Kappl on our first day to get away from Ischgl on the Sunday. Good to know we could potentially split the day between Kappl and Galtur, should we wish. That said, part of the attraction for me is to have a gentle first day after travelling, so we might save Galtur for another day.
Looks like we'll be getting some decent snow. 9 cm yesterday and another ~90 cm due in the coming week! Though I do think Snow-Forecast tends to overestimate.
