great vid...what cam was this filmed with and what software did you use? and are you in film editing as a day job? or is the software easy to use? i want to be able to put vids together like this but the previous experience of playing with software packages never turn out as enjoyable to watch as this one.

Super movie, Tony. Serre certainly looks a big, broad expanse of space to play in.

Trust me, I am no computer geek, but this is all quite simple to do.
I used both a go pro hd camera for the main footage and attached it to a head strap on my bobble for some filming but mainly as you've seen to a pole with a handlebar attachment. It takes a bit of playing with to get the best angles, but a mate of mine from here Ellistine has been using one for a few years and making films for us so I wanted to have a go myself.

I borrowed a go pro from a client of mine who was good enough to lend it me, and I had in my mind a couple of music tracks I wanted to use as well as the kind of footage I wanted to get - things like the chairlifts and drags speeded up etc.
But you really just have to film quite a lot and spend some time going through it to clip the best bits you want to use.

I also took some videos and a lot of photos on my iPhone 5 which has a superb camera and actually takes the best quality images I've ever managed to shoot,

I'm a mac convert in the last few years. I treated myself to a big iMac 3 years ago and it's just sooooooooooo much better than any pc. It comes with iMovie, an editing software, which is so easy to use. It's fool proof, trust me if I can use it.........

I've had some advice from a couple of techy people I know including ellistine and Snapzzz from here, but once you get to know how to use things it really is plain sailing.

The hardest part is trying to keep your movies short!!!

Personally I think having a good soundtrack makes a movie. People have different ideas what music is good of course, but it needs to be something to suit the mood, ie in my case fairly upbeat. I also particularly like a couple of the tracks I chose for the film and had them in my mind whilst filming. I think it's important to also be able to add a little humour and be able to take the mickey out of yourself.

I have to disagree with Wickers that the naked version of the filming would be better, as that would quite simply be boring listening to the wind and hearing me chat a load of nonsense, or mrs h telling me to slow down or not ski that close to her tails!!!!

By no means am I an expert film maker or an expert skier come to that, and I didn't wants to just show lots of fantastic skiers as that's not what this holiday was about. We had one skier who has only recently managed to pluck up the courage and overcome a nasty back problem in her 50's and put skis on her feet and she was grinning like a Cheshire Cat by the end of the week. And then there was another couple with us, both of whom are developing early Intermediates, and whilst I spent very little time skiing with them (they would prefer not to venture far due to Stewart's dislike for lifts and nervousness on anything above a blue) it was also important for me to include footage of them in the movie. In fact the best footage of Stewart is in the sun on the cucumelle which is a long red!!!

Anyway, all that aside, I seriously say to anyone who has the remotest interest in making movies for themselves, get a go pro and just get on with it. If I can do it, anyone can.

Tony ....... it is good to disagree, I just like to do something a bit different, over the years I have used sound tracks but just got a bit bored with it and just wanted to go back to basics, and also my vids are for the family archive and not for public viewing, you guys get the edited version.
In my opinion music comes down to personnel choice and I have not seen too many videos where the music fits the beauty of the mountains, it all seems a tad disjointed.
But hey ho I am all for personal choice.
