After 20 years skiing my teenage daughter has persuaded me to board...'it's cooler dad !'
Four lessons at xscape an doing ok but had a few heavy falls. Coccyx seems to take the brunt.

Dainese make fairly slimline ones, with soft protection panels.

I have the Dainese impact shorts and they fit great ,the pads have enough flex to mold around your body so that it doesn't look like you're wearing a nappy under your trousers :-)

I think a back protector with a coccyx protector is preferable, as if you fall face first the board can whip up and hit you in the middle of the back which is also very painful. Wearing gloves with wrist protectors is also a good idea.
