Oberwiesenthal

The biggest ski resort in Eastern Germany, with a cable car to the top of Fichtelberg. Oberwiesenthal is Germany's highest city and the hometown of Olympic ski-jump champion Jens Weissflog. There is an annual ski carnival and a ski museum. The area shares a lift pass with neighbouring Klinovec just over the Czech border.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Oberwiesenthal is Karlovy Vary, 38 minutes drive away.

Dresden, Hof-Plauen, Prague, Leipzig and Nuremberg airports are all within three hours drive.

Karlovy Vary is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.
