Overlooking Hokianga Harbour at Omapere, The Sands Hotel Hokianga is a pretty 4-star hotel offering spacious accommodation in a lovely location.

The rooms range from 32 sqm - 60sqm, and all have ensuite facilities and walk-in showers; 10 Villas have separate bathtubs.

20 of the rooms have a balcony or deck (Superior and Beachfront 2-bedroom only) overlooking the water.

This hotel has 43 guest rooms including ten 5* Luxury Villas. The rooms are a good size, and all have ensuite facilities. 37 of the rooms have a balcony with 19 rooms overlooking the water.

The hotel has 1 restaurant for guests which offers a lovely selection of traditional New Zealand cuisine including many seafood specialities. The Sands Bar & Restaurant is the perfect venue to enjoy a meal with a view as it overlooks the water and the dunes across the bay.

The Sands Hotel Hokianga is ideally situated to explore all that the Hokianga Harbour area has to offer, including the surrounding forests, dunes and sandbar.

Please note that there is a 2% transaction fee when you pay with a credit card or a Visa or MasterCard debit card. There is no surcharge for payments made with EFTPOS or cash.

A valid credit card must be presented on arrival, and be in the same name as the guest's name on the booking confirmation. For all pre-paid bookings, the credit card used to facilitate payment must also be presented on arrival.

Includes satellite TV, and tea and coffee making facilities. The private bathroom has a walk-in shower. Please note that the price is based on 2 guests. There is capacity for one (1) rollaway bed for 1 child 12 and under. 6 rooms are on the first floor and 9 rooms on the ground floor (3 of the Superior rooms are in a separate building.

Refurbished in 2025, the Beachfront 2-Bedroom rooms boast stunning views of the magnificent Hokianga Harbour. Includes SKY TV, and tea and coffee making facilities. The spacious Two Bedroom Family Rooms include two bedrooms with KING beds that can be made up as Twin beds on request. The front Ocean view bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. A 2nd full bathroom is located across corridor from 2nd bedroom. There is a separate lounge area with access to a private extended Patio, sun loungers and table for four guests. There is capacity for one (1) rollaway bed for 1 child (5-12 years). There are no self-catering facilities.
