New Linga Chairlift to open in Châtel for winter 2025–26

Châtel ski resort (pictured yesterday above) in the Portes du Soleil is set to debut a brand-new six-seater chairlift in its Linga sector for the 2025–26 winter season, replacing a decades-old gondola and promising faster access to the mountain.
The new detachable chairlift is scheduled to open next month in December 2025. It will dramatically increase uphill capacity from 2,230 skiers and snowboarders per hour to 3,000 per hour and reduce the journey time to five minutes.
Sustainability is a core aspect of the project. The number of support pylons will be reduced from 21 to only 13, with the new pylons lower to minimise the visual impact.
A newly built top station will include a "hors-sac" room — giving a space for picnics and to enjoy the views across the valley.
The improved Linga lift will make it easier and quicker to connect to other resorts in the Portes du Soleil.
