Always some risk to book before mid January-es, mid January. We have had great snowfalls over the past few years pre-Christmas but records will show that most resorts in Europe can fall short of snow until mid January. Want bags of snow pre Christmas=go to Colorado.

Have been skiing for about 30 years and would suggest Champoluc, Italy-about 1 hour 30 minutes from Turin. Small old fashioned village with plenty of wide open blue and red runs (not really suitable for beginners). Good choice of Hotels, 2 to 5-star, and some excellent restaurants. As the resort is not on the main list of ski companies it tends to attract in the main an Italian crowd. Also, prices are very reasonable when compared to the mainline French and Swiss/Austrian resorts. I don't think you would be dissapointed. From Colin

Another vote for Bardonecchia, also Modonna di Campigleo. Or perhaps try Champoluc in the Monterosa ski area of Italy-no blue runs to bottom, but lovely blues at the top with the option of catching the six seater gondola to the Village.

hello Berry
Best, and shortest from Geneva, place for your ski is at La Clusaz. Great traditional village, 55 lifts, restaurants, lots of accommodation and nightlife! Go to www.wtss.co.uk (Where to Ski and Snowboard)for more comprehensive details or www.laclusaz.com. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Regards from Colin |
