Not sure why the resorts all seem to be opening later than expected. It's not snow cover for sure, particularly in Chamonix. I agree that it seems to be pot luck on dates.

Zinal is open to the public this weekend, race teams have been training there for weeks now. Weekday opening is not scheduled until 15th December.
Grimentz (might) open weekends of 8th and 15th Dec, but won't open daily until 22nd Dec, all of which makes for a short season, given that they tie the closing dates to whenever Easter happens.

Have skins will go ski :D

My 2p's worth are that SH started doing this in 2004, and J2ski are already participating with the Tignes trip in Jan 2013 :D
I felt that the Show was noticeably smaller. It was lovely to see folks I know, and have a Coffee with our illustrious leader aka Admin. I felt I could have "done" the Show in an hour. Not many bargains on kit, though I had a very interesting chat with the good folks at Whitedot Freeride, which has resulted in me spending some money -)
The Coffee was pants, these days how hard is it to make a decent brew?
I took my own sandwiches, and joined others sitting on the floor near to the entrance.
My ticket was free, I had another, but failed to give it away, everyone I asked already had one.
Given the cost of getting there, I'm not sure if I'd pay an entrance fee as well.

Or the morons that jump up as soon as the seat belt light goes out to drag everything out of the overhead lockers that took them ages to ram up there!
