Is Little W doing, or has she done her ESF Gold this year?
DB junior did his Bronze , finally starting to carve and look like a real skier!!

Have a look at my video on my Merdassier/La Clusaz thread.
To cut a long story short she passed her gold this year which includes a timed Giant Slalom race which incorporates 50% of the pass the other 50% is technical ability, it is very satisfying seeing your kids inprove year on year and well done to DB junior, gold next year !!!!

Dorset Boy wrote:I don't think it's a Brit thing anymore. In Avoriaz this year I think over 50% were wearing lids, including one or two instructors (never seen that before).

In a collision with another skier, it is your legs, knees and ribs that are likely to come off worse than your head.

I wore a lid for the first time this year, only because Ski Republic include them for free. I think your hearing is slightly restricted, and sometimes peripheral vision too (though that may be down to the goggles).

My biggest concern is that any increase in injuries on the slopes is down to people not taking lessons for long enough, modern equipment being 'too easy' and then safety equipment making lower intermediates think they are Franz Klammer.

As someone else has said, kids that have grown up wearing lids are now becoming adults and having always worn helmets, will continue to do so.

Totally agree with all that you have said

It doesn't help when San Miguel in a bottle is 98c for a litre here & ski resort prices exceed this many times more.

My point and others I've heard about chamonix is that there are a number of areas connected by lift pass and buses all close by which you'd want to ski on a weeks holiday and that I keep being told you really need a car to do it.
I'm more than welcome to be convinced otherwise and i do appreciate there is some epic skiing to be done here.

But the scenery, I don't think I have been anywhere more stunning
