I have been looking at getting some snow chains and was giong to buy some off ebay. HOWEVER, I decided to ring Volkswagen today (we have a passat 2004) to see how much it would be to buy VW snow chains. The guy was really helpful and he had also contacted another company that deal specifcally with snow chains and was told that VW Passats could not have snow chains as the clearance at the wheelarch or something like that was not big enough for them.

I cant believe that this is true. The guy said my only option was a snow sock which costs £86 but not sure if this would be legally classed as a snowchain. Surely people drive VW Passats in Austria?

I do not know your tyre size so follow the link, hope it helps 8)

What I have done this year instead of the norm Thursday to Sunday trip we have able to booked Sunday to Thursday so the plan is that the slopes will be quieter. Our plan is cheap flights which depart no later than 09.00 am a car at the airport then a travel time of no longer than two hours, From Turin you have La Thuile, Bergamo
Passo Tonale or Verona for the Dolomites, the choice is endless.

By The way one more day to go

Out on my new Punishers today, plenty of pow, though the snow felt a little heavy. We were still in freshies at 3pm :D

Translation :

I'm having an OK time cause my leg muscle are playing up, I'm not very technically minded, been out on my new skis today, Plenty of powder, legs are not what they used to be, translation now breaking up no idea what "We were still in freshies at 3pm" is all about ????

How did I do did I get close ????
