If we didn't we wouldn't be going.

With 4 pairs of boots and all our clothes for the week in the car we need to think of space saving ideas...

Went to Lidl yesterday and they have those bags that you suck the air out of. These are great, especially for ski wear, which is mostly all air and fluff! You can reduce the size of your clothes by a massive amount. It doesn't matter on the way home as you should have eaten most of the contents of the boot!
We shove stuff under the front seats. And our car has little storage compartments, we stuff those full too!
Boots stuffed full of socks and gloves and helmets full of goggles and face warmers.

Someone has mentioned before using packet sauces. I will also freeze items in same shape container so they pack up more easily.

Bit of a military operation, but well, it's that or stay home...

Be careful it is not always the cheapest way of going skiing, I have found a roof box to be a must now and I agree with your space saving methods of the bags which I used this year for the first time
it was a great success.
Carefully price Ferry/tunnel, fuel, tolls and accommodation, do you have young kids an overnight stop is another expense, car servicing, snow chains, 5 star breakdown cover, green card all adds to the expenses.

I hope I have not put you off because it is a great way to holiday, remember cost it and make the comparison with the TO's

Good luck

Firstly; Not sure you're right about that. Charlie wasn't asking for an opinion on whether it's right or wrong to watch TV whilst away, only where he can watch it. Many people may be reluctant to ask simple questions on this forum if they feel that opinions take over from the answer.
'Where can I buy baked beans in Morzine' could result in a whole range of opinions about the rights and wrongs of eating 'English' food while away

Secondly; La Terrasse in Aime shows a lot of footy. May show English rugby, but you might have to ask very nicely.

But I see nothing wrong with that sometimes threads do off on a tangent thats what makes them interesting, if we just sat back and had a question and answer session I don't think it would quite be as interesting a forum as I have found J2ski to be, the forum seems to made up of differing types of people not all like doing the same things ,no one as far as I have read has critised Charlie, it is his holiday he should be able to do what ever he wishes within the law.
I have said before on this forum that I never mind people disagreeing with what I have said because it is just opinion, I would think Charlie will still watch the Rugby no matter what I or anybody
else here has said because it is his decision to do so as it is mine not to. -) -)

karen72 wrote:I intened to take kids out of school for all our ski holidays lol there is no way I would do that again. I think with it being such a small resort ie the ski school only tended to use the 2 button lifts at the bottom, made it worse. The most I would be taking them out would be for 5 days. I cant see the harm in that (await barage of insults from teachers )

I have taken Little Wickham out of school for the last three years the school are ok with it, I would not want to take Lw skiing at half term and it looks like from your report I have made the correct decision but I'm glad that you had a fab time.

I'm on your side Jim,I don't read a paper or watch telly on holiday, I tend to have a conversation with people guess were a dying breed Jim :!: :!:

You've lost me on this one :?:

Why are you 'taking sides' :?:

Charlie26 has asked a simple question about Sky TV in resort.

We don't need to debate the merits of watching TV whilst on holiday, or whether some of us are more, or less cultured than others. And we certainly don't want to be judging fellow posters (unless that's what they've asked us to do).

All the guy wants is an answer to his question.
Unfortunately I don't know the answer, but what I do know is - each to their own.

It is not about taking sides, it is about having an opinion, but you have certainly succeeded in killing the thread
