Much the same as over here with a tad more red tape, we were off to Switzerland, so a permit needed to be obtained but a long distant memory now
Help with my shortlist

Tony_H wrote:Ok, just planning ahead for next season. I intend to make 3 trips if possible, and my I will select from Austria, France, Switzerland and Italy.
I have done some research and checked out WTSS, and my shortlist has been drawn up. Here are my selctions for Italy. I would be most grateful if anyone who has been to all/some/any of these resorts would give me some feedback.
I am looking for info on the ski area in terms of ease of access, possibly ski back to resort, lift queues, snow, and any other useful info you wish to share.
I have selected the resorts based on their access to reasonably sized ski areas and offering suitable accommodation and atmosphere for me.
Heres the Italian selection:

Arabba
Selva
Corvara
La Thuile
Champoluc/Gressony

Thanks in advance.

Out of those I can only offer advice on La Thuile, modern resort with with some great skiing, Me and Mrs W really enjoyed the skiing, and there are plenty of options to visit other resorts Pila, courmayeur and also there are some great blacks for a challenge. It is a resort I would return to.

Come and join me in my adult French classes. We always have a really good laugh - it's not at all like school, and my French is much better now.

I have always threatened but have never followed up, some people I know are always correcting my pronunciation, I'm not great but I can order most things in a restaurant, but I always make out I can't speak a word and in five years they have not cottoned on, and they are very much like what Tony_H was saying about skidaddle but they really think they are fluent, I have hours of fun winding them up.
Why can't I turn left?!

skiNH09 wrote:I've been skiing for about 5 years, a handful of times each year. I've never had any formal instruction, just kind of picked up what I could from friends. I'd say right now I'm at an intermediate level, but I'm having a frustrating time with making left turns. For whatever reason I can't seem to "force" my left ski to turn left on the snow...I literally have to lift my boot up off the ground and re-plant the ski to get it parallel with my right ski. I have no problems with either ski when turning right.

I feel like this is hampering my progress because I have so little confidence in my left turns as compared to my right ones. I tried to get some advice from my expert skier friends, they watched me carve a few turns but couldn't offer up much more than saying "huh, that's strange, you shouldn't be lifting your leg like that".

Any advice?

Went back to check the original posting it says he is an Intermediate skier, who has trouble turning left, just seems strange, the issue is in this comment "I've never had any formal instruction", my final posting and advice to "skiNH09" stop being so tight get some lessons and then start enjoying you're skiing.

I am a bit miffed, because I still don't know the answer. The suspense is killing me!

I don't see why his problem should be worse on the easy slopes, and he STILL hasn't said whether he's pole planting, or going 'up and down'. But at least I was right about the small wedge to begin his turn - or at least I should think that's why he begins his turn with his outside ski.

Maybe we should have a whip round to subsidize one lesson with Pablo or anyone else here, and put us all out of our misery.

You can't really answer the question you can advise it just comes down to weight transference
