Don't worry too much about it though, at your age there are bigger issues in life )

I must have been very fortunate because where ever I've been someone has stopped very quickly and helped me to retrieve poles, skis, sunglasses etc. - luckily I have only had small tumbles and not hurt myself, and more importantly have never taken anyone else out with me. (Well only my daughter (then 20!) once, and she just stood there watching me slide very slowly in to her!)

Perhaps ski schools should teach people how to fall over - I think sometimes people career out of control and causes damage to themselves and others as they are afraid of falling instead of committimg to a safe tumble early on in the process.

With more and more skiiers on the pistes dare I also suggest some form of test and licence system?!

They should definitely be held accountable, I just think people don't know, they go skiing once a year and thats that, I still think etiquette should be taught in ski school, although ise has said that it is, it wasn't when I was first taught.
I can give you examples in everyday life of a person fainting on the way to work and people just stepping over him not wanting to get involved, I guess people just don't care any more about their fellow man

How does that work then Wickers?

Especially as some skis are "handed" when they come out of the factory  :D

Then why don't they mark them, just like that Irish comedians wellie boots, can't think of his name

They do, put your reading glasses on

Not on my skis, I used to have a sticker from a ski service shop that I used and I always used to know that was my right ski but in Adelboden it came off, I'm off to the garage to check I'll be back

Right, just taken little W to school checked the skis no left or right, Check date, no not april the 1st , I'm contacting Fischer to demand why my skis ain't marked L & R

Not only are some skis made "handed" by the factory, some have a different internal structure for left and right edges.
I'm assuming that your Fischer's don't have that either :D

Mum listen, I've gone over those darn skis with my reading glasses on and can't find a symbol or a written word to state left or right, I have today emailed Fischer a letter of complaint asking which foot the blasted ski should go on, I am awaiting there reply, I some how think I won't hold my breath though, I'm beginning to wonder if I've got them the right way round

AllyG wrote:Eljay,
That's odd, I have exactly the opposite problem. I can formulate sentences fine, as long as I know the vocab or have a dictionary, but I am really bad at understanding what French people are saying. And I can read French pretty well, but they speak too fast for me, and I can't separate out the words. I am best communicating by e-mail

This one normally works for me

" Pourriez vous parler lentement pour satisfaire"
AllyG wrote:Out of interest, I have checked the prices for next Feb half-term, 13th Feb, to see if Bulgaria is still the cheapest.

I used Inghams ski on the internet, for no particular reason, but I didn't want to check all of the Travel Agents. And I was particularly picking a mainstream travel agent, because I think people on their first ski holiday are probably more likely to use these. It's only later that people start designing their own holiday.

I checked their prices to Bulgaria, France, Austria, Italy, Romania, Andorra, and Slovenia. I looked at half-board hotels, flying from London airports, 2 adults and 2 children.

Bulgaria was still the cheapest, but not by much, so I think the argument for going there because it is the cheapest is getting weaker. I have no idea why France was so frightfully expensive with Inghams - unless I've made a mistake (only too possible!). Of course I didn't include all the extras, like ski passes etc., this might make a difference to the rankings.

Bor hotel, Borovets, Bulgaria = £607 p.p.
Hotel Bradul, Poiana Brasov, Romania = £681 p.p.
Aparthotel Xalet Besdi, Arinsal, Andorra = £685 p.p.
Hotel Spik, Kanjska Gora, Slovenia = £724 p.p.
Hotel Gruberhof, Igls, Austria = £768 p.p.
Hotel Sciatori, Tonale, Italy = £819 p.p.
Hotel Excelsior, Chamonix, France = £991 p.p.

Possibly because it's Chamonix

I have been in the summer and really enjoyed the place had a nice feel about it but it is a tad low at about 800 meters to ski, so that may be the deciding factor, I remember we had a fantastic lunch of sausage, sauerkraut and something else I can't remember what , we were served by the owner in lederhosen, his knees were worse then mine
