Any reason Mayfhofen, from what I remember, good Apres ski but not so easy for skiing without car.

Plenty of Brits and plenty of bars which open just for Apres ski so am sure there are plenty of jobs which let you ski every day.

Spinning 6am this morning for 25min. 07:15-07:45 in office, trousers off and icing knee, foot up on my step up box. The beauty of desk work.

Snow chains France

Chains are only really advantageous over winter tyres when there is large amounts of snow on road. This rarely happens, with normal hazard being ice. Cannot think of the last time I saw a car with chains on which I guess is the real problem. They are pain so nobody bothers until after you have had an incident(normally you get snow within few KM of ski resort, think nearly there what is point). :-) well assume is not only me who has found himself in that situation.

My advise winter tyres (not studs), lived for 3 years in Norway and amazing the difference they make. Many a happy weekend navigating Voss to Myrkdalen in hunt of more snow. With 4WD and those tyres you can get any where.

More convinving with work we had to do a yearly winter driving course at skid pan. Stopping distance is reduced by approx 50% at 30mph and above 50mph is >100% reduction.
Safe Skiing

Knee surgeon had an interesting comment last week. He was recommending a back to ski clinic and how they taught a very "safe style" of skiing.

Perhaps Warren can share with all.

Certainly since my injury I now cringe as people come to stop leaning into slope. Downhill ski unweighted and leaning back slightly.

Apart from speed, common sense etc what positions should we be avoiding. 999/1000 no injury but risk is there. Afraid am a very analytical skier and I was obviously in wrong position. Unlucky certainly feel it :-). Reality is I was coming to planned stop and greater awareness would have saved me 2 ops and 6 weeks skiing missed.
How about "Never complain about weather". Was a joke this year as Alps were being dumped on; number of people moaning about it snowing. Not sure how they thought it got there normally?

"Very good intermediates to advanced standard British level skiers."

Are you going to suggest a new scheme for ranking British skiers :-).
A Powder Ski Guide

LOl like comment about roads. I did NZ in 2009 and somehow did not really fall in love with the skiing there. Like a small Alpine hill but without the charm of small Alpine village. Still Wanaka is definitely somewhere would love to live for a few years. Looks like awesome summer paddling to be had there. Think maybe I made mistake of staying in Queens Town.

Still bungee was definitely worth doing.
