Surely, its just a matter of comparing their prices with the lift company's own prices. If its cheaper, its then just a question of whether you trust them and there are no other downsides.

In my experience the free/cheap child places can really keep the price down for families. This year, my trip is costing nearly €900 for adults and the child places are €269 (with Crystal). Even allowing for the underoccupancy supplements and exclusion from the group discount, it still works out at about €400 less than paying adult price . I don't consider that a con .

You should be able to do this by train. While it tends to take a while, its not too different that flying when you take into account check-in times and time to get to and from the airport at both ends.
Have at a look at this: http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/en?seqnr=1&ident=0c.05567220.1226577650&OK#focus There is an option, departing Florence at 10pm getting into Zermatt at 6.33am. Given that you obviously have youth on your side, it should be no bother to travel overnight. Then you should be in resort ready to board all day on the 4th   . If you have the stamina the same thing would be possible for the return journey, i.e travel overnight on the 7th, getting back to Florence early on the 8th. Hope you can work it out . |

Rail link is pretty good. You can pick up the train at the airport though you will still probably need to change at least once. Check out the timetable to see which train suits you best. The station in St Anton is reasonably convenient as well. If memory serves me right, it can be done under 3 hours, depending on connections.
Munich is a long way from St Anton. If you are fixed on St Anton (which is great), then I would stick with Zurich or you could check out flights to Innsbruck or Friedrickshaven (Ryanair fly there from a few airports). |

Fantastic news Caron . Well done .
Now go and enjoy yourself . I wonder whether a simple neoprene knee support (the type you can pick up in any pharmacy) would be of any help - I used one for one or two trips and found it pretty good (though in my case, I was just dealing with creaky knees, not recovering from a major operation .) It strikes me that it might do the job that Trencher has in mind. |
