Hi all,

I am off to Tignes next week on the Eurostar snow train arriving at Bourg St Maurice in the evening.

Anyone have any ideas which is the best way to get to tignes - is there any public transport/bus service which goes that way in the evening, or am I stuck with a taxi ?!!

If anyone knows, it would be useful,

cheers

is it worth going to Xscape?

Thanks all,

I suppose the least I can do is try it once (Milton Keynes for me). I am buying new boots soon so it would be a good way to 'break them in'. I can only go in peak time though unfortunately...!!

Hi,

I have only skied once and was thinking of going to an indoor snow slope to help me remember what I learned and get some improver lessons so I can ski more runs next time I go to the mountains.

Thing is - it seems really expensive - is it really worth making the drive and giving my money to xscape just for an hours worth of fake snow ?!

Does anyone go there and can recomend / not recomend ?!?

cheers

Hi CDP,

that place looks quite nice!

Have you been before? If so, could you tell me more about it?
How long does it take to get up to the main ski area, for example? What is the village like?

cheers

Thanks all,

I went to Montchavin at Xmas as a first time skier and had to learn pretty much on ice and very thin snow. I did like the size of the town though.

So this time I really only want to ski - I am not fussed about bars/restuarants /sightseeing or languages spoken, I just want better snow than I had at xmas and am worried that smaller lower resorts may be a risk for my money. Also, being in education I am forced to holiday in peak season so want somewhere quiet and away from crowds and queues - which people say Ste. Foy is.

But, from what I gather here, Ste Foy is only good for access to other places or off piste?

And thanks for Vallandry website Snowgirl - it is all too big for just the 2 of us though - why is all skiing accomodation geared towards large families and big groups and not couples!!

Thanks for your replies,

David, you mention Ste Foy, but I get the impression you are not actually recomending it. Why not Ste. Foy?

I had another recomendation for Ste Foy and it is smaller than places like Tignes and Val, as suggested by Snowgirl.

Is there still snow in Ste. Foy April? are you saying it is not freindly?!

I have no car so will probably stay in one place. So need doorstep skiing to satisfy each day. The problem is finding self catering for only 2 people - so far, I have not found that in La Rosiere, or Ste Foy - any recomendations welcome!

Also, if anyone has the web address for the MGM in Vallandry as when I google it I only find tour company deal and I would rather go direct!

Hi all,

I have booked my train for a week at Easter but am not sure which resort to go to.

I am looking for maybe a smaller resort, possibly with access to a spa, but with fewer crowds.

I have no interest in nightlife, except somewhere nice for aperitif !!

and obviously, with good snow!

Anybody know where that is?

cheers
