Yes but the european resorts, some of them at least, have names sounding reassuringly classy, expensive and glamourous like Courchevel, Davos, Val d'Isere, St. Anton, Lech, verbier, Méribel, les Trois Vallees, and Saas-Fee just to name a few.

Currently reading 'Not Dead Enough' by Peter James. Almost half way through, enjoyable so far though not as much as his other novels like Host, Twilight and Alchemist.

Bandit, Quoted from the Hestra site Outer material Upper section made of wind and waterproof, breathable Hestra Triton/polyamide fabric. Proofed Army Leather goat palm. Only the upper section(back of palm and cuffs) is waterproof in the sense that water will not soak through or leak through the seams. The leather section isn't waterproof in the usual sense of the word, that was my point. With that said, mine didn't leak under skiing conditions but, like you found out also, did get soggy under warmer conditions. However my hands were still totally dry, snug & toasty all day despite that. They are great gloves, more glove than I need at the moment bought as a long term investment after my first pair of gloves, two weeks use, gained a shredded index finger and palm from holding skis along the sharp edges. |

The blurb on the retailers website, not Hestra's, stated the gloves were waterproof. However as the velcro attached inner lining is fleecy and the leather seams didn't look like they were sealed I decided to test them under a running tap just to make sure. For skiing, unless you ski in rain, the Hestras are more than fit for purpose for most skiiers.

Bandit, There's a big difference. Your ones have the waterproof gore-tex GTX XCR lining. The less expensive ones in the link you posted are the ones I bought end of last season for just under £50 from rip101. The seams are definately not waterproof on my Hestras, tested under a running tap, and there is no waterproof insert. |

half piste, Unless you rest skis on your shoulder probably the next easiet way of holding skis is the way Admin described but unfortunatly gloves will be cut up if the skis have sharp edges. I eventually realised this when I noticed my own gloves had cuts after only two weeks of use. So I avoid holding skis like that anymore.
For cold hands the usual remedy is to wear an extra glove liner and/or wear mitts because the fingers are together so sharing body heat. For extra durability gloves/mitts with leather palms and fingers are more durable imo. However sharp edges will still cut leather, just might take a bit longer. If you want something expensive you might like these http://shop.packyourbags.com/acatalog/Haglofs_Helix_Ski_Mittens.html |

On the official LDA website links to non skiing activites were easy to find whereas on the Livigno site I struggled to find any.
