Did anyone have a pair of these?

Lots of time on my hands at present - so did a search for the infamous Nordica Polaris boots.

Did anyone out there have a pair of these knee-high beauties in 1980 or 1981?

I wonder if anyone still has a pair in working order!

Get in the Mooserwirt or the Krazy Kangaroo - and then ski down in the dark! The perfect cure for a nervous intermediate!!!

I'm going to Solden earlier in January. One of my options is the Panorama Wing of the Chalet Hotel Hermann!

You had a pair of Nordica Polaris? I only saw one pair of those, in Cervinia in 1980/81. They disappeared from the shops as quickly as they arrived. Not a great success, if I recall correctly!

Thank you for the good wishes and sage advice. I've become very good at sitting down over the last six weeks - and don't intend to give up that hard-earned skill in the next few weeks.

Admin, the plan is Solden - Wednesday to Wednesday in January.

Out of plaster today! And into an orthopaedic boot (a bit like one of those Nordica knee-high boots from the very early 1980s!). Specialist very pleased - ski holiday about to be booked in celebration!

Overnight the webcams from Solden and Hochsolden have transformed from summer to winter! Splendid - much colder there today and temperatures falling now in the weather forecast. Can't wait...

I'm doing Solden independently in January; I've used the Solden website for accommodation - huge choice at all prices. The tourist office sent me the various brochures (arrived just a day after ordering!) so you can have a detailed look. The Oetztaler shuttle from Innsbruck airport is one transfer option - and the bus/rail/bus via the Otztal railway station looks a decent back up option. Solden and Obergurgl are among the resorts that can be accessed this way.

I'm a confirmed independent traveller - gives me much more flexibility in length of stay. midweek travel, accommodation etc. And early/late flights mean you can get in an extra afternoon/morning on the slopes.
