Hi Stewart I signed up for the dump alert here http://www.alpedhueznet.com/dump_alert.php It was really exciting to get my first alert this morning.
Tony - would love to meet some J2skiers face to face. We are staying at Club Med which is in the Bergers area at the bottom of the Marmottes lift. I'm skiiing in a group too, 7 adults and 8 kids, hence Club Med who will look after the children for most of the week! |

Yippee I've just received my first Alpe d'Huez dump alert. Over a foot of the white stuff landed last night. After a week of looking at green slopes on the web cam I'm getting excited again. Roll on 10th January. :D

I was given a very old pair - not sure how old exactly - but they are about 195cm long and very thin - I've never used them but am happy to give them away to anyone who wants to collect them from Milton Keynes. If anyone is interested I will look up the make/size/type etc.

How much gear do you dare to hide in your ski/board bag on check-in?

We have a double ski bag and last year four times got onto Easyjet flights with two pairs of skis and a selection of clothing in the ski bag which saved weight from the suitcase. Each time we only paid Easyjet for one pair of skis - £18 I think - and they never questioned us.
I also take my ski boots as hand luggage to save weight from the suitcase and they never questioned me on that either. |

Oh yes, loving the A d'H web cams. Just 61 days till I'm there and they already have more snow than the time I went to Tignes for xmas 3 years ago.

It was only a small drop, just an ironic situation rather than dangerous!

My helmet has speakers built in and you plug your ipod into the back. I dont fancy skiing with music on as I like to be aware of is happening all about me but last year I thought I'd give it a go and can concur that some Kasabian and Faithless do speed up your skiing!
The memorable moment was when I was skiing off piste - my husband and I the only two people in sight, I was listeing to Idlewild - "If you held the world in your arms tonight" and feeling like we were on top of the world and owned the mountain when suddenly I found my self dangling from a bush trying to stop myself sliding backwards and downwards into a small gulley below. The moment was lost, but had been good fun. |
