I knew I was taking a risk putting it up on here, but I thought it would be worth it because some people would appreciate it. We can't all be brilliant skiers, and I think it's good to show what it's like trying to learn a new skill within ski-ing. Hopefully, I will improve.

You are quite right about the ruts. My daughter came down last, or maybe second last, out of the 8 of us, and she said it was badly rutted up by then and she had to ski very carefully.

How much slalom ski-ing have you done?

Ally

Not much!

Ski Jokes......for AllyG

Two skiers are discussing skiing (of all things).
First one says "I just love zag-zigging down the slalom slope."
Second skier says "it's zig-zagging, not zag-zigging" and an argument ensues.
Eventually they decide to ask someone else so they go up to this bloke dressed in ski-gear
and say 'Excuse me matey, but do we zig-zag down the slalom or zag-zig?'
To which the bloke says "Don't ask me, I'm a tobogganist"
and the second skier says "Excellent, I'll have twenty Rothmans then, please."

Yet another reason to wear a helmet

It's about a year since Natasha Richardson died and the helmet debate came up on the radio today.
Sounds inevitable it will become law & apparently sales of helmets are up 60% since her death.

I think it's a shame - people should be allowed to make own decisions. They always use the bicycle helmet argument - but they aren't compulsory and I think cycling is more dangerous.

No - don't have any stats, just makes sense when roads/concrete/cars involved that you're more likely to get hurt.
Great to see your video Ally, you look great. It's never as easy as you think it will be.
I fall over on them usually as I get into the ruts left by other skiers.

It is brave to put it on here - not sure I'd want to open myself up the type of comments some people make!!!

I will think about this, while I'm cleaning, and get back to you.

But, as you said, it is an interesting point for discussion - related perhaps to the old empire days? My grandparents were really proud of the British Empire, and honestly believed that the British did a great job educating and controlling the ignorant 'natives'. My own great-grandfather was a medical missionary. 'We' were always in the right, and 'they' were always in the wrong. Nowadays colonialism is almost a rude word in itself, and none of us can be so sure that we are always right - a 'goody'.
