A lot of the continent don't really do Christmas..more New Year I was in Obertuern the week before for a couple of years and its very snow sure and easy to get to. They have a special week that includes the lift pass in the price of the hotel for the week before as well

never been there but how about Les Clusaz/Grand Bornand ...220knm piste and a reasonable priced lift pass with the reputation of having an affordable cost of living or even Verchais where I have stayed ...on the Grand Massif and 20mins drive to the Porte du Solaille

I thought in general that I tend to agree with the single destination but I think N might be a bit limiting as it is only a small area

personally I think you should get a consensus as to area before you start looking at particular chalets...its a bit previous ..who knows what the prices will be it two years time

I, personally, preferred the La Plagne side to Les Arcs but I thought the main accommodation areas were soulless ..Monchavin and Champagny were more traditional and the former is right in the middle of the full area
