What shoes to take on a ski season
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 37 Replies
Seiously?

When ever i have be skiing i have always found that most people simply do not give a toss what you are wearing and where you are wearing it. But maybe thats because i am 40 now. You really care how your shoes look against your jeans in a ski resort?

I guess it depends where you are going really. In a valley town snow boots might not be required but for somewhere above the snow line in a ski in ski out resort i wouldn't take anything else.
In Avoriaz i travelled in my TNF Nuptse boots and took no other footwear. Thats all you need, if anyone took the time to analyse my feet i would suggest they have a crap life.
Recommend me Val Thorens apartments.

To be fair that article states that the accident happened on the way to the start, a similar fate met an Italian back in 2005 as well.
There is obviously danger attached to any fast action sport but my point was that for Joe Public having a go it isn't as risky as you might think it is.

I read a piece on the Flying Kilometre at Les Arcs and how they allow pretty much anyone to have go, sounds crazy but apparently due to the looooong skis and well prepared course is is incredibly safe.
The only downside for the pros is the red catsuit that makes you look like Britney Spears.

I had a we moment in Sauze this year.
Having skied off alone i found a small patch of powder begging to be skied so i dropped in behind a small ridge an cut myself off from the rest of the resort.
I wasn't far away but tucked in here it was silent and the view was immense. I had a little sit down in the sun and just stranded at the vista for around 15 mins.
The Alps really are stunning.
