Next year's trip looks like being at Easter (end March - early April). I've never skied at that time of year and I am looking forward to it already.

We are a family of 4 intermediates (reasonably OK skiers - liking for blues [for the family synchro skiing and ski tag] and reds [for proper skiing], will do blacks, as long as they are not too hard). The girls will be 14 and 11 next year.

Looking for family resort. Not interested in apres. Not interested in mega mileage. English speaking instructors for girls would be good.

Resorts skied so far - L2A (I like this marmite resort, may go back); Risoul (liked this one too), Soldeu (OK), Livigno (didn't like spreadoutness of resort); La Thuile (dunno - white out for a week), Hemsedal (loved it - but would have to DIY next year because TOs won't be doing Easter).

Not going to book yet, but wondered what people think.

Obviously, somewhere highish with a reasonable snow record sounds sensible.

Any suggestions?

The conditions obviously change from year to year, but I am at sauze d'oulx at present and the snow is not just ok but great . The resort has a good range of restaurants etc.
I went DIY and not sure you will get a tour at Easter . But good range of hotels .so should be no problem.

As you say if you are going to book in advance check height and snow history, I would book at the last minute even it was not the cheapest option. Good luck

Grand Massif at Easter always been good conditions when I've been (4 times)
Flaine especially good snow, but never stayed there.
It's not an attractive place, but some people rate it.

Also been to Les Saisies (ok snow, but whole area not open) and Val Thorens which had great snow and -15 temps with heavy snow and closed roads 11th April.

My son went to Les deux Alpes on 13 April last hear, again snow good and new snow during the week.

You will need to bear in mind it'll get heavy in the afternoon, the snow won't be like it is in the earlier parts of the season, but I've always loved that time of year. You can sit out in the evenings and have a drink and when you come home it's Spring!

Are you sure tour operators don't do Easter? Or do you just mean for Norway?

Hello Dobby,
I am off to Solden this weekend so I will let you know what that resort was like in a couple of weeks.
I know this year Austria has not had it too good so it will be interesting to see how the lower slopes cope with the lack of snow.
The official resort website is stating 0cm on the lower slopes but still tells me we can ski back to resort! Interesting.
If you really want to push the boat out you could try Banff, Canada. We skied there in 2012 and some days we felt we had the whole mountain, Sunshine or Lake Louise, to ourselves and never had to think about the snow conditions because everywhere was great.
I was told "if you lean, you fall". I've tried and I did.

Les 2 Alpes - its high and has glacier skiing all summer so you can be sure of good conditions at Easter. Its also good if you have a mixed group looking for a good all round resort. I went there earlier in the season and wrote a review: http://snowboardingholidays.net/review-of-les-2-alpes-snowboarding-holiday/

I am off the Les Arcs for a cheeky 3 days of boarding next weekend so I will let you know what the snow is like.

Dids1, the TOs go to lots of resorts at Easter. Crystal rep in Norway this year told me that they were doing three short seasons in Norway, ending in mid-March

Looking at VT or possibly La Plagne for Easter next year.
Easters quite early so although still risky booking early it's not as bad as it could be.
Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

Snapzzz, La Plagne looks a possibility. So many choices.
