It sounds like there are a few consistent opinions here

1. Take it with a piece of salt remembering that everyone shares bad experiences rather than good. Remember the saying, one person will tell 5 people of their bad experience but maybe only 2 or 3 of a good experience. Bear that in mind when looking at reviews

2. Look at the number of responses. If somewhere has 2 out of 5 stars with 10 responses may be different to a place with 2 out of 5 with 150 responses.

3. Look at visitor photographs rather than 'official'.

4. Read between the lines

5. If you fancy it, go there. You are an individual. Use it to help your decision, not MAKE your decision ;)

I would tend to agree with Barney. There has to be well over a hundred to make it worth taking into account. You can always get the general gist of what people are saying. I think you need a pinch of salt and some common sense. Also, if you want to go there - just do it ;-)

Ally - If you have a great cottages you have nothing to worry about. Apart from the weather

Cant you take your listing down once it is up?

I love weekend mornings (when off work) lying in bed with my cuppa with the skiing on the box.

Happy days.

That what long term relationships do for you? TV in bed with a cuppa?

Guys and Gals,

We are all paid up for a week with Inghams in Avoriaz.
As this is a car free resort i am wondering about getting to our apartments from the car park drop off. I know there are snow cats and horse drawn sleighs available at a charge but do the tour operators provide this service free of charge on transfer day?

Can anyone with experience of Avoriaz and Inghams tell me how they got on? I would find it a bit annoying if we get dumped at the resort gate and have to shell out for onwards transport. Our apartments look to be an uphill walk so don't really fancy that with 4 cases plus skis.

Thanks

Interesting, Val Thorens & Sauze Doulx are both car free.

VT - they relax that rule for swap over day and coaches etc go all over the town picking people up etc. When the weather is bad they clear the roads especially for buses

SD - they drop you off at the tourist office and you walk uphill to the hotel while your luggage is put in a van and dropped off at the hotel. Never like doing that as you have to leave your luggage waiting for some local Italian chap pick up your bag and be trusted at dropping it at the correct hotel  Sounds like yours is the same!
