Problem with go pro on the helmet is you look like a tele tubby! Chest mount is OK if you can get the angle right but I have an er problem with suspension shall we call it, due to my gender when wearing something strapped to my chest  My husband thinks it is hilarious!
On the subject of this thread (which is what we are here for): I like my bobble but only wear it apre ski. I wear a helmet skiing because it is warm and comfortable and keeps my hair out of my eyes and I have also banged my head in the past and although I know a helmet may not save my life, I like wearing it, so why not. It has not affected my skiing or spatial awareness and I certainly do not think I am invincible in it or go faster as a result. I am with the others on the main worries being about injuring my knees, this is foremost in my mind (perhaps we should all wear knee braces - or is that controversial too!) I also have to remark that it is disappointing that too many people seem to take offence in threads like this, we have all heard the arguments before and no doubt will again ad nauseam. Lighten up guys -) |

The guy with the baggy pants and dreadlocks (sorry name escapes me) made me laugh this morning, what did he look like!! And I really didn't need to know his pants were blue!! But it was funny to see him tangle himself up in them whilst trying to look cool...
Want a medal matey, get some braces. |

All of the above and more.
It was a long way to drive but the 6 of us that drove down together (2 cars) stopped overnight at Memmingen where we were able to sample the local ale. Arrived lunchtime on the Sunday at virtually the same time as the minibus. A quick trip to the ski shop to get those who were hiring togged up and then a meet up in the bar before supper. We went out in different groups each day as suited, which worked well as there was always someone who wanted to do more or bale out depending on how they felt, so no one got left out. The little pizzeria in Flog got quite used to us stopping off for a small libation at the end of the day before catching the shuttle bus back to the hotel. There really was too much snow but I am not complaining, better that way than none. The bonus is that I now have no fear of skiing in the fog or flat light or driving snow, as I got to practice quite a lot! But boy, when the sun did come out the place was spectacular. I would definitely go back there. And on the way home 4 of us stopped off in Colmar overnight to break the journey and went out for a nice meal to finish off the holiday. Happy days, roll on 2015, where shall we go? And who is coming with us? |

Getting really excited now, my last day at work today. I am dedicating tomorrow to packing, then off for an early start Saturday morning for the drive to Folgarida. Looking forward to seeing the J2Skiers we met last year and meeting the new ski/board buddies.
Snow looking good, we are going to have a great week. Then it will be time to organise 2015 :D |

I am still trying to resist packing my bag for skiing on Saturday. If I pack too soon the time drags, it has to be a night before ritual which is almost like the start of the holiday.
We are bringing it forward this year by driving to the airport the day before and staying in a hotel, so actually the holiday starts when I pack tomorrow night (and the snow will be falling Saturday - just hope we can get to the resort!) |

burning thighs after about 30 to 40 mins of skiing

Back on subject:
I agree, it is a stance thing that creates burning thighs. I used to get it but it goes away when you learn to centre yourself correctly and lean forwards. Such a joy to find that it is easier and not so tiring to ski when you finally "get it" about pushing shins against front of boots and steering with big toes! I still have my moments when I forget and sit back and get the wobbles about a steep slope but I know what I am doing wrong when this happens and it is a mental thing that only I can overcome. More nerve required and go for it :-) |
