Ian, I have put boots in the suitcase and will do probably again. If my boots were in my ski bag then if it went missing I would lose it all which for a weeks holiday would be pretty shitty so best to split up the risk! Besides it is easy done with a 23kg suitcase allowance.

The airports, instead of claiming on the travel insurance I just sacked it up and paid for the rental myself.. wasn't worth the hassle of a claim (wasn't going to bring my skis across the country quicker).
BA lost my luggage on the way back from said trip (wasn't returned for 2 weeks) and it got to the point of threatening legal action without some sort of compensation and they still weren't interested, so again just let it fly. That was the first day of terminal5 mind you so they would have had thousands of complaints to deal with. |

Air Canada lost 2 pairs of my skis and a pair of boots last season. Technically not lost I guess, they knew they had left them in Toronto. The problem was I was a couple thousand miles away in Calgary.

Sorta, nothing major. Was more impaled on the top of the tree (between my bag and my back) and slowly falling down. Bennyboy has had more serious encounter though. |
