If you choose the Stuttgart, Munich, Innsbruck route which would be my choice, expect some delays on the A99 Munich ring road especially if you hit it around tea time the Friday before Christmas, factor this into your travel schedule. I shall be on the same section of road at the same time heading for Austria.

Very wise words!

Does ayone do much reading whilst awy skiing/snowboarding?

Using the trains mainly and travelling alone frequently, I can plough through books. Also nice to sit in the bar at the end of the day with a wee nip of something warming and read a little.

Just been on Amazon and bought 4 books for my trip on the 12th December. Probably get through 3 of them.

Storms Of Silence - Joe Simpson
Crime - Irvine Welsh
K2: Life and Death on the World's Most Dangerous Mountain - Ed Viesturs
Seven Years in Tibet - Heinrich Harrer

Have been told that in Austria Xmas eve is the big celibration & this is when presents are exchanged. Going to be weird for the kids if this is the case as father Christmas is still the real deal in our house, how do you expain that one?should still be really special though. Enjoying not having the hassle of planning for Christmas & leaving all down to someone else to do.
On our return home we will celebrate Xmas with the outlaws.

Tell them that Santa does Austria on Christmas Eve because he needs to leave time to get to the UK on Christmas day.

Tony seems to think I'm on drugs already (after reading my posts). Can't think why

I've been tea-total for about 20 years, and never taken any drugs - these days I even drink de-caffeinated tea.

But I do know what it's like to be on drugs. As a family we accidentally ate some magic mushrooms once, when I was only nine, and they have the same effect as LSD. We were all hallucinating and found it very difficult to walk etc. - so I'm quite sure someone on LSD wouldn't be able to ski.

They wouldn't because they would be rolling around on the floor laughing at nothing.

See your PM, a little bit of Bill Hicks on the subject )
