You should like our latest update then... coming to a website near you late today (with a following wind).

More on that later...

Pavel... earlier today it was baby-wipes between your toes and now you've come over all fishy!

Are you sure you're not spending too much time in your ski workshop... inhaling all those wax fumes?

I think you need a snow-fix!

Ok, fair point... should have said Eastern Switzerland perhaps...

But it looks like there's more snow in the forecast for "ise and surrounding regions" next week... 8)

Verbier and Les Diablerets should be open this weekend - and I'd assume a fair few of the smaller resorts too; any of your local hills opening ise?

Floydie, Austria and Switzerland have just had one of the biggest November snows for many years and the forecast is for the weather to remain cold, and for the snow to spread South (possibly in lesser quantities than last week though).

So you should be good to go - reckon you'll have some good options by the first week of December.

Our Snow Forecast by Country pages give a pretty good idea of what's open and what's not, so keep an eye on :-

Hmm, feeling decidedly jealous...
how to warm up before skiing

Getting accommodation a little way from the lifts helps immensely. A ten minute, brisk walk through snow in ski boots and carrying your skis is a great warm-up.

Best not to stretch while your muscles are still cold.

Seriously - if you're in ski-in/ski-out accommodation then warming up first is easy to forget but no less crucial; a gentle run first will do the trick. Do the first run with loose boots to let your ankles flex and to feel the snow.

Also, short but very sweet...

From our weekly Snow e-mail (if you're not subscribed - you should be!) :-
A week is a long time in Snow Forecasting... just six days ago we said snow was unlikely much before the 10th; how wrong we were. This weeks big news is that a storm originally predicted to bring a little snow to the Eastern edge of The Alps had ideas of its own and has plastered much of Austria, prompting the first official warnings of "snow chaos" for the next few days.

This morning we see lesser quantities of snow on the ground across Switzerland and the northern-most regions of Italy.

The week ahead looks set to be colder than average (for the time of year) with more snow in the forecast over the weekend - particularly for Austria, where some resorts could see anything up to half a metre accumulating. At this point it's not entirely clear how far South and West the current snow will spread but the Northern French Alps should see 10cm or so over the weekend.

Keep an eye on the Snow Reports on j2ski - we'll be updating these throughout the day as the resorts start reporting how much fresh they've just received. We'd also expect the forecast, particularly for French and Italian Ski Resorts, to be quite dynamic over the next few days as the snow decides exactly how far to go.

Early December you'll have to go high - very few low to medium-altitude resorts will open even if there's big early snow.

So check Tignes, Les Deux Alpes, Val Thorens and Hintertux for starters.

You can leave your choice quite late, as ski resorts are pretty empty in early December as a rule.
