Tino, from your Engleberg element on the blog:

1. Glacier skiing/snowboarding is very different to proper mountain. WHY?
2. I am nowhere near as good as I thought I was. WHY?
3. I simply do not know when to stop. I think we knew that. :)4. Powder hurts less than piste.
5. Powder is a ***** on a board when you fall. It's sh*t on skis too.6. Skiers have it easy off-piste compared to boarders. B.....ks7. I need to learn to ski, and then........ Thats a great idea.
8. I need to buy a split board :) They are called: - "Skis"

Okay, answer time.

1. No matter what the conditions on a glacier, you know and expect tough conditions. On a mountain slope, the conditions can change over a few yards and throw you off. Basically I think that doing it enough you get used to glaciers, mountains require a little more concentration.

2. Because I was riding like a big jessie on Saturday to start off with, no confidence at all. It did improve to be honest.

3. :P

4. Nuff said.

5. Agreed, probably not a lot of fun either.

6. In deep snow and flatish it is impossible to dig out and get momentum. With skis you have independence in either leg and poles to enable you to get a move going, it's just plain knackering on a board. Funnily I always seem to fall on the level rather than on an incline :?: Maybe speed is the key.

7. I was drunk when I said that.

8. Seems that it's bedtime.

Go glacier, simple as.

I had also considered St. Anton but I heard it's not great for complete beginners, that it's a lot more expensive than some of the other options I've listed and that it will be mad busy at half term. Fair comments?

I will let you know about Saalbach next week, even though I think Hinterglemm is the livelier part of the resort. Mind you, I might be totally confused there. Actually I might not be that much use as all I intend to do is ride, eat, swim, sauna, recieve massages, read my book and sleep. Who am I kidding, I will post updates daily, some of them more coherent than others :D

Do you have a plan of of where you are going throughout the season or are you taking things as they come?

Updated )

I have no specific plan further than my next trip ususally, but a calender is not a bad idea!!

I bet you are excited where you off to first?

Saalbach Hinterglemm for me next weekend (for a week) and it looks like they will have some snow after all.

So in order of asking...

1. The rotating cable car is class!! I was so impressed I rode it down so I could video the experience!! Once I get a chance I will put it on my blog.

2. I was indeed stazing at the Terrace, all very odd indeed. Don't get me wrong it's fine but just not my cuppa tea. It is kind of a communal eating arrangement where you may sit at dinner with 15 strangers. I ain't sharing my bottle of red with 15 Lithuanians, or anyone else for that matter.

3. I nearly booked that actually Bandit, was going to until I saw the deal including pass etc.

4. Dave, I really dont want to be cited in another divorce suit, 1 was bad enough, and no I wasn't, before you ask.

5. I intend to put up reviews, prices and links to all places mentioned in the blog, but this is time consiuming so it will be a gradual thing.

Good stuff Tino, just off to read your blog now. Hope you enjoyed it. Mrs H just said "He gets about a bit". If only she knew the truth, eh????

Hehe, it's best to keep the Shielas in the dark in my opinion.
