Hi Mike,
You should get lucky if you contact the local guide's organisations / schools - there are often other solo skiers and/or small groups arranging to go off-piste who'll be amenable to having someone else join them and split the cost. Some guides/schools may even have solos already booked at the time you're planning, so it may be worth e-mailing a few to ask and register your own interest. Certainly it'd be better to go with a guide-led group if the rest of the skiers aren't known to you (then you know that at least one of the group know where you're going). |

Ok, random examples for that week :- Self-catered cabins, Niederau, Austria - £299 Self-catered apt., Avoriaz, France - £379 Self-catered, La Thuile, Italy - £414 You have got the advantage of a low season week though, so my advice would be to leave it until ten days before you go - I reckon you'll find plenty of good deals closer to the date. Look at some of the deals on offer for the next two weeks - you should be able to get something similar if you wait until end of Feb before booking. |

What dates are you looking at Iceman? Quite a few packages to the "big four" countries going for around £400 (inc. flights, accom. and food) on departures in the next couple of weeks. |

Hi Pete,
Our Ski Holiday pages include deals from Iglu, that often have good discounts. There are some good deals going for Ski Holidays to Sauze d'Oulx at the mo; and there's a search form on that page. Hope that helps - best chance of getting a great deal is to travel outside the peak dates and wait until a couple of weeks before departure. |

Hi Sam,
We (j2ski) are partnered with SkiSet for pre-booked Ski Hire, and the link you quote in your post will give access to our discounts - at least 20% off walk-in prices. I think they're also doing a "7th day free" promotion at the moment too (in addition to the 20%). We've been approached by all the major ski shop networks and selected SkiSet as our partners as we believe they offer the best range of equipment and the highest standards, in the widest number of resorts. Although they now include around 600 shops, SkiSet do control the quality of the network. We know of a couple of shops that were removed from the network following poor service. They guarantee that all the equipment is less than 3 years old; although our experience is that you'll be unlucky to get kit more than 1 year old - especially if you select one of the higher grade packs (e.g. Platinum). All hired equipment is regularly serviced (and almost always will be serviced on request, if necessary). They're also generally relaxed about swapping kit - so if you want to try a different ski mid-week it shouldn't be a problem. For Alpe d'Huez, just be sure to hire from the shop nearest your accommodation - there is a map on the SkiSet site. If you have any specific questions / requirements then don't hesitate to ask. Cheers, |

Any sore heads this morning?
I was hoping to make the first post of the New Year but some spammer beat me to it! Have a great year skiing people - and if you can't manage a year on the slopes, enjoy whatever time you can. 8) Anyone skiing today and care to give us our first on-the-spot report for the year? |

From all of us, to all of you.
Wherever you are, on the snow or dreaming of it, have an absolutely fantastic time. Let your hair down but remember - a body is not just for Christmas; it's for skiing (or boarding). 8) Merry Christmas - Joyeux Noël - Bon Ski! Best wishes from the j2Ski Team |
