Lovely photos Ise, thanks very much.

Funnily enough that track looks just like our road, during the last few days

Sami,
I'm really sorry to hear about all your problems and I can see why you just want to go home now .

I think we all go through bad patches in our lives (I certainly do anyway), and somehow we just have to muddle our way through them. I'm sure you'll make it through to the other side, with help from your friends and family.

Best Wishes,

Ally

Sami,
I find that really hard to believe

However, they do say that having holidays together can be extremely stressful, and lead to break-ups. But it does seem very strange, if you had no hint of it before. And I also think you should stay behind and continue ski-ing without her, if she wants to go home.

I always leave my husband behind when I go ski-ing with our kids :D He looks after the dog, the farm, and the holidaymakers and I go and have some fun without him - ski-ing I mean

And in case you think I'm just a mean person, he went on holiday to Australia for 5 weeks last summer with his sister, and I looked after everything at home on my own while he was gone. And as I have said elsewhere, we have been married for 25 years, and together for 29 years. We are partners in business and marriage.

Ally, As for my 2nd interview...I've decided not to go tomorrow, there are lots of other jobs advertised for that area at the moment so I think I'll take a bit more time and start again. They all start in September anyway so no time lost.

Snowbandit,
I think that's a very sensible decision. There are several main roads here shut now because of the new snow and drifting of the old snow(even to tractors and 4X4's), and they are saying that anywhere here over 200 metres is likely to be hit by heavy snow and blizzards all night until tomorrow morning. Driving to Somerset at the moment doesn't seem to be a very good idea!

And I expect you could do with a good rest :D

Take care :D

I totally agree :D

Make sure you don't trip over the dog or anything else

Hi Snowbandit,
Thanks for the update, and sorry to hear you missed the first one of your interviews. Why didn't the others hire stuff and ski while they were waiting for their luggage to turn up?

As for the current UK weather, we are in the forefront of the weather pattern you are worrying about, here in the extreme part of south west Wales. They predicted gales for us, with winds gusting up to 60 mph, and heavy snow. So I packed my younger daughter off on Sunday to stay with friends in town, so that she'd be there ready for this week's AS exams.

I have been keeping a very close eye on the Met office weather warnings. They have downgraded our part of Wales from heavy snow to rain now (so I've fetched my poor refugee daughter back from town), but we must be right on the edge, because looking out of the window now it's just started and it looks like a mixture of snow and rain, but it's not settling. But over the hills I would think it is heavy snow.

I should think the situation in somerset is something similar, with rain over the coast and snow over the hills. Is the interview near the coast or the hills?

Kate,
I forgot to say that the £1000 was total for everything. Use of the skis and boots, and the lift passes were covered by the £110 for the chalet, and we also paid extra, 90 euros I think, for a 3 hour private lesson for both of us. It was amazing how it all added up. Quite frightening really.

I expect your hotel was close to ours, although I didn't notice it. There were several there - the other side of that dual carriageway/motorway from the airport.

Kate,
That doesn't sound too bad at all, quite a good deal in fact.

My daughter and I had 3 days ski-ing at Tignes on the glacier during October half-term, and that should have been only around £110 each for the chalet plus flights at £60 each with Easyjet, but we had to get a hotel room in Bristol before we left, and one in Geneva on the way back, and buy lunch and airport food and petrol etc. for the long drive to and from Bristol, and I ended up paying a total of around £1000 for the 2 of us, and it extended into a 6 day trip with only 3 days ski-ing.

It was great fun though, and we did have a good look around Geneva in the brilliant hot sunshine.

Which hotel did you book in Geneva? We were in the Ibis airport hotel at 114 Swiss Francs for a twin room for one night. It was perfectly comfortable, and did a free shuttle to the airport, but it wasn't anything special. The chalet people did a free transfer from Geneva to Tignes and back.
