Kate,
I wondered if you'd got it half price, but I wasn't going to be cheeky enough to suggest it :D Thanks for telling us :D Did you book it last minute? And if so, how did you manage to get cheap flights as well? Did you book the flights in advance? Thanks, Ally |

Kate,
Thanks for the link. It does look very nice, but also very expensive! The weeks they still have available cost about 1000 euros just for the chalet and the transfers from the airport. I would think that flights, lessons, ski hire, and ski passes would probably cost us around another £600 each. I suppose I'm just too mean (and broke!) to pay those sort of prices. I generally try to go for the cheapest holiday I can in one of the best locations. I'm glad you had a good time. Chamonix looks like a great ski resort. Maybe I will try and find some ultra cheap accommodation for a holiday there myself :D Ally |

I totally agree Bandit. At least two ski holidays per year are essential for one's health :D. Salski, get your GP to write you a ski holiday prescription and take it to your nearest travel agent asap  Ally |

The only time I ever went quite fast in powder, the front of my skis came up, just like surfing a wave, and it felt like I was leaning backwards, but I wasn't really - not relative to my skis, and it was a very strange feeling - just like surfing, and I had no idea how to stop and the instructor kept yelling at me not to snowplough. Luckily I made it back to the piste before I exceeded the 100 mph speed limit (as I was accelerating down a slope just off the piste).
Obviously I have a lot to learn yet (like how to stop!) Ally |

Yes, you're quite right Caron, I just checked her OMG thread. She has a job interview on 12th Jan, and she said she was travelling back the day before, i.e. today. How clever of you to remember :D I can hardly remember what I'm doing, never mind what everyone else is doing  I expect the others are too busy ski-ing and drinking to type us any messages. Kate,
Did you have a good holiday? Where did you go? I'm afraid I can't remember - I have a memory like a sink, no retention at all. Ally |

I'm afraid I was thinking more about the English airports. The forecast for Geneva seems to be heavy snow Tuesday night and Wednesday, and this morning they had -5 degrees C and mist but the airport is open. I hope you get there okay and have a great time :D Ally |

Have a great time all of you :D. I have to wait over a month before we go
It looks as though the cold weather is finally lifting so with a bit of luck all flights will be okay in a few days. Ally |
