Pole Planting
Started by User in Ski Technique, 90 Replies
I am so glad the usual Bods decided to get involved in this conversation -I hoped Trencher, Tony, ise etc would help guide us to the right answer. I think they all deserve a 5* for their posts.

I am not commenting - I use mine to either stop me falling over, leaning on when I am tired, might pole plant on an easy slope, catch mice and rats that run around the balcony of an apartment (yes the last is true!!)

Dont you get 3 stars at the outset for hitting a certain number of posts?

Or did I just go from 0 stars to 4 for one person liking me?

All I can comment is that the car park is free (Well it was in Jan 08)

HOwever, as expected it gets very busy. In addition to that when we were there it was constantly about 6" solid ice, walking in ski boots on that with skis & poles was a "challenge"
Snowboarding advice

Please do not join "first time snowboarding"

I was in a group as a first time snowboarder this year and found it really frustrating to find that 3 of the 5 had done exactly what you describe. Here is me trying to put a board on and the instructor thinks we can do what you already know how to do!

Go for lessons though, if it is anything like skiing you will pick up bad habits otherwise.

Also, how on earth do you carry round a DVD player when you are skiing? Using a DVD to learn how to dance like "strictly come dancing" is one thing, but boarding using a DVD at the same time? Now that one is clever :D
Imagine if this froze...

[quote=Jan I StenmarkI bet they couldn't do it on the motorised "feet" that RKS had to use, now that would be classy ;)

Now that was funny! I bet you could not go far on those feet. However, I do want a pair
